It is now four years that NNMRAC has offered a community arts education program to the children and youth of the Española Valley. In 2010 NNMRAC opened the Española Community Arts Education Center at 702 Bond Street. The building has a Student Gallery and studio space for classes and workshops. The program has expanded beyond the visual arts to include music and chorus classes. This fall, Brian Wingard, Española Valley High School Choir Director, will teach our music and chorus class and reorganize the Española Valley Children’s Choir as it moves toward a full production of the Shoes for the Santo Niño during the Santo Niño Festival of the Arts, which will be held Friday April 25th and Saturday the 26th. The one-act children’s opera will be sponsored by NNMRAC and the Education Community Program of the Santa Fe Opera.  Winston Woods, recently returned from Milwaukee, will teach an art class on Tuesdays, while board member Geraldine Fiskus is assigned to the Thursday art class. She will also continue the Access Art Class on Mondays with students from Las Cumbres and El Mirador. Classes are free of charge but we do ask for a donation of $1 per child per class to cover the cost of snacks and supplies. All classes start Monday, September 23 through November 14th between 4pm and 6pm. For more information call 505-500-7126 or email director@nnmrac.org.
